About Virginia Waters-Pleasantville

Virginia Waters-Pleasantville is more than just our provincial electoral district - it's our home.

It includes all of the households bounded by the Outer Ring Road, Torbay Road, the Boulevard and the Atlantic Ocean. As of 2011 there are 14,152 people living in the district.

The Neighbourhoods of our District include:
  • Wedgewood Park;
  • King William Estates;
  • Eastmeadows;
  • Guzzwells;
  • East Point Landing;
  • Baly Haly;
  • Virginia Park;
  • Pleasantville;
  • Fort Pepperell;
  • White Hills; and
  • Robin Hood Bay.

Key public facilities of our district include:
  • the Pleasant View Towers long-term care home;
  • the Canadian Forces Station St. John's;
  • a Service Canada Centre;
  • the North Atlantic Fisheries Centre;
  • the Newfoundland and Labrador headquarters for the RCMP; and
  • the Robin Hood Bay Water Management facility.

Key non-profit agencies based in our district include:
  • the Murphy Centre;
  • the Multicultural Women's Organization of NL;
  • the Muslim Association of NL;
  • the Single Parent Association of NL;
  • the St. John's Military Family Resource Centre;
  • the Royal Newfoundland Regiment Museum;
  • Girl Guides of Canada;
  • the Tommy Sexton Centre and short-term shelter;
  • the Daybreak Childcare Centre;
  • the CNIB NL headquarters;
  • the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Association; and
  • the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 56 Pleasantville, which also houses the Provincial Command offices.
Municipalities Newfoundland and Labrador also houses its offices in our district.

Key recreation and sports facilities include:
  • the Techniplex;
  • the King George V Soccer Stadium;
  • the Baly Haly Country Club (curling and golf); and
  • the Paul Reynolds Community Centre.

We also are blessed with many parks, playgrounds, green spaces, ponds and walking trails, especially the Virginia River Walk that stretches from almost one end of the district to the other.

We have the best off-leash dog park in the city on the shore of Quidi Vidi Lake - you can find Jenn there with her three dogs, Muffin, Dobby and Bucky, on a regular basis.

Our schools are St. Paul's Junior High, Vanier Elementary and East Point Elementary, although many of our students attend schools located outside of district.
